Call for proposals for symposiums and workshops has begun
Members of the Society for Evolutionary Studies of Japan
We would like to extend our sincere congratulations to you all on your continued good health.
The executive committee for the 27th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Evolutionary Studies in Shiga is currently making preparations for the conference.
Dates: Wednesday, August 20th, 2025 - Saturday, August 23rd, 2025
Venue: Nagahama Institute of Bio-Science
Competition website: https://ev25.nagahama-i-bio.ac.jp/
Conference Chair: Kazuhiko Oshima (Nagahama Institute of Bio-Science and Technology)
Conference theme: Unraveling biological evolution from various perspectives: genome, phenotype, and ecology
We are now accepting proposals for symposiums and workshops as outlined below. We look forward to receiving your applications.
■ The symposium and workshop are scheduled to take place at Nagahama Institute of Bio-Science on the afternoon of August 20th and the mornings of August 21st and 22nd.
Each slot is two hours long and we have rooms that can accommodate 110-130 or 300 people.
■ The project representative (= applicant) does not need to be a member of the Japanese Society for Evolutionary Studies at the time of submitting the proposal, but at least one member must be among the project planners at the time the conference is held. For more information about the Japanese Society for Evolutionary Studies and how to join, please see the Japanese Society for Evolutionary Studies website ( http://sesj.kenkyuukai.jp/special/?id=2514 ).
■ Non-member invited speakers will be treated as invited guests in principle and will not be charged a participation fee. They may attend the entire conference. However, the Society will not provide travel expenses or remuneration. If they attend the social gathering, a social gathering fee will be charged.
■ The Conference Executive Committee will decide whether or not to accept the proposed plan. We may ask you to reconsider the content, such as combining it with other plans. There will be no restrictions on overlapping speakers. The representative of the plan will be notified of the outcome around mid-June, but the reason for the decision will not be disclosed.
■ Symposiums and workshops will be held face-to-face. The organizers will provide the usual equipment for face-to-face meetings at the venue.
